As much as some people hated the man for his political views, he made great points and the biggest was about the ability to have open conversation with opposing views and he nailed it when he stated that when communication breaks down it is a really bad thing.

Now it is acceptable to kill another person for expressing there view. Look at the amount of people that think it is a good thing he was killed. I respected his views and how he went about educating others. Seems to be a lot of good job openings now

It’s absolutely not okay to kill another person, whether it’s Charlie Kirk, or children and teenagers (of which guns are the leading cause of death in the US) while they are attending school. I look forward to seeing some gun control measures being implemented in the US to combat this problem.

America is clearly headed for a civil war. Down the road this will be studied by historians as a flash point no doubt.

I didn't agree with anything he had to see. But I feel bad for his kids for losing their dad so young and for his wife for losing her husband so quickly when they had so much life together left to live. But my sympathy ends there.

A lot of people disturbingly saying he deserved what he got because of that quote but its a completely rational conversation to have. Like most rights, there are positive and negative consequences. The negatives to say the right to drive a vehicle are that we have car crashes and people die. Most agree that the positives of the freedom to drive outweigh the negatives of crash deaths. Doesn't mean they are saying they don't care about crash victims. What if crash deaths were 10x what they are now? We'd want to discuss whether the right to drive a vehicle needs to be curtailed. What numbers of deaths is the tipping point? It's a rational conversation. Similarly, at what point do the negative consequences outweigh the positives to the second amendment? If 1 person were killed each year by gun violence, is that enough to overturn the 2nd amendment? Current levels of gun violence? 10x our current level? Clearly Charlie Kirk believed that the positives outweigh the negatives and I'm sure he would still think that. He would also believe that the negatives are tragic and terrible. Its the right way to frame the debate IMO. Personally, I don't think the positives outweigh the negatives and gun ownership should be severely curtailed. Doesn't mean he deserved to die for his opinion.

What I did admire is he had public discussions. Opposing view? No problem. Let’s talk. Reasonably. Have an actual dialogue.

That takes courage. You are never going to know the outcome. Cannot determine a winner. But just talking it out brings thoughts. Ideas.

This whole political violence thing is out of hand. Vulnerable impressionable people read the rhetoric and think they will be hero’s.

what changed after the 70s or 80s, way more shootings now than then. IMO a lot of what we see is gang and drug related. as for the other shooting that grab headlines like, Charlie Kirk or school shootings. Those are a very few of the actual shootings but grab everyone heart strings, I really think way more should be done with Mental health. In this state Indiana it is really hard to get any meaningful treatment.

All of the youth have a little computer in their pocket now that has bad actors trying to hype them up to do crazy stuff like this. Bots, extremists, foreign intelligence agencies, you name it and they are out there. You see this stuff constantly where they try and guide the vulnerable youth to do crazy stuff. All of the youth are on these online chat groups that are like discord and telegram etc. A lot of these recent cases they have been part of these groups.

While that is true it’s the before that concerns me. I cannot count the number of times public figures chanted “facist”, “dictator”, “threat to democracy”, “taking away your rights”, “resist”, etc from Democrat leaders, left leaning news hosts, social media influencers, talk show hosts, etc. Non stop hate rhetoric.

When that sort of message is repeatedly stated to the world you can expect there will be people who are going to act who think of themselves as heroes. And that’s when bad things happen.

Valid point, I will take something i know and compare something i know. Take a wild turkey, he seems pretty smart and is hard to call in and shoot he is fast and agile and can fly. Put these same turkeys in a barn with thousands of others and they seem pretty stupid, they are fat can't fly peck on each other so maybe crowding people into small places lead to the same thing. 200 million in the 70s to 333 million now and most of the increase is in large metro areas
