Right now, there are 5 forum categories: Administration, Server Talk, Development, General, and Learning.
Recently, I was banned for 2 weeks for something I said on AT, which would be part of the "Server Talk" category. During this time, slag released a new game update in the Announcements forum, which is under "Administration".
But because bans apply to all forums, I was unable to participate in discussing the new changes.
It might be a decent enhancement to put in your backlog to - if the functionality doesn't already exist - select the categories that the ban applies to at the time it is given (maybe by default have it "select all"?). Because it seemed a little unfortunate to be banned for 2 weeks on AT but not even be able to talk about in-game changes.
If there is worry that people would abuse the fact they could post in other categories, I'd just update the rules and make it clear that forum bans can be extended if the offending user abuses their ability to post in other categories.
