Let's get to the heart of the matter here:

You, and many others, have a very warped view of what you're owed by the admins and by the moderators.

They owe you nothing. You are here at the admins' pleasure; the game only exists because for whatever reason the admins liked the game and the community enough to re-code it, and re-host it. I doubt this is a serious money-making venture and wouldn't be surprised if EE operated at a loss.

Usually, with a game like this, the aim of the people who've designed and hosted it is to make money. Either players pay some sort of subscription fee, or serve ads, or find some other way to monetize their player base and in those cases, yes, the admins do owe a little to players because those players provide for the admins' livelihood.

That is absolutely not the case in EE.

Instead, we've got a game where the admins seem to actually like the game itself, and like (or maybe used to like) the community enough to want to provide a place for it to stay alive. There is no incentive for them to justify themselves or their actions to the community except because they feel they should; their conscience is the only thing that restricts them (and we should continually be thankful that the admins and mods are good people). However, there are practical limits to this: dealing with the game takes time, and there is more to life than EE. No one has quit their day job to run the game, and no one enjoys dealing with the malcontents on the forums.

The fairest thing given the incentives, time constraints, and idiocy on the forums is for the admins and mods to post only when it is absolutely essential and to remain out of view as much as possible. This lessens the burdens on the admins, lowers the expectations of the player base, and keeps things running as smoothly as possible.

We're owed nothing and generally, nothing is probably what we should get.
