Earth 2025 began as a game of strategy. Build a better country by taking from others while protecting your own.

It required skill to develop the best strategy. The introduction of bots removed the need. The excuse that no one has time for the game is false when you see the amount of land and NW at the end of each 1A set. Takes a bit of time to hit all those bots.
The strategy game has turned the game site into yet another Social Media site with folks branching out ot apps such as whatsapp, Discord, and many others over the years.

A handfull of folks that got tired of the defensive side of the game begged and received the bots. This small population got what they wanted and the rest of the folks left.

I don’t disagree. I’m not a programmer/coder nor was I around when bots became highly predominant and necessary to maintain gameplay. But what I do know is that if you can bring people back to the game then the bots should disappear proportionally. It’s just like the real world in that we’re replacing jobs/positions with bots. That’s why I feel like the way forward is to bring in a new generation to go backwards. If that makes any sense.

See above. I’ve been around a while. I’ve literally used the tag/handle “Solaria” in some fashion for every game/username I’ve ever played. I saw another thread with some of the oldest/youngest players of the game. I believe I was around 12 when I first saw my uncle playing Earth: 2025. I created an account on dial-up internet the moment I went home. Actually created a Utopia account too.

Here’s my point. The game died. It died because of the very same reason that I left years later; games with graphics. In that same weekend I was playing Nintendo 64 Golden Eye 007 on a 72 inch projection screen tv. That was also awesome. And obviously a lot more people wanted that. Only the hardcore remained it seemed.

But there was something about a text based MMO that drew me in. Now, almost 27 years later I’m still here. Off and on albeit. After starting back in a few years ago I think I found the answer as to why it remains. Community. All of you. There’s friendship. Rivalry. Camaraderie. Trust that this game will still provide entertainment and a sense of nostalgia and belonging.

So, my point is, it really shouldn’t be personal. Maybe it’s not and I may be reading these threads too literally. But at the end of the day, we’re all sort of torch-bearers. If we want the game to not “un-alive”, maybe we can continue to bring people in and see it for what it really is. A way to build community. Show it to your kids. If an 8-bit game can influence these young minds, why not some words, math, algorithms, and interaction?

The first round of Earth: 2025 was held in October, 1996 and was developed by Solaria Games, created by Mehul Patel. Solaria Games also began offering non-game services such as e-cards and message boards in 1997. With these non-game related services, it broadened the scope of Solaria and rebranded itself Solaria Interactive. Following the rebranding came a MMOBG called Utopia. Solaria Interactive experienced increased popularity due to the birth of Utopia. With the two anchor MMOBGs of Earth: 2025 and Utopia gaining new players, Solaria Interactive renamed itself Echelon Entertainment in January, 1999. Though the company continued to add new services and features to its site, Earth: 2025 and Utopia still maintained the highest interest from users. In May 2000, Echelon Entertainment became Swirve.com, Inc., and later transitioned owners, Swirve being sold by Mehul to Jolt/OMAC Industries in 2008. The game evolved fairly continually at first, but later stagnated, and virtually no changes were made once Mehul sold the game.

I could see this becoming WAY too competitive. Everyone would probably gang up on LaF. I played this game back in the 90s and took over a 15 year hiatus because I kept spawn dying from you campers. I feel it would stagnate, as we’d all be hitting each other and it would just turn into a retal-fest. Again, I haven’t been around as long as some of you, but I’m down for whatever. Oh, it probably won’t draw new attention unless we make it graphic-based, which my @$$ would be down for. Don’t get excited Coalie, that wasn’t an offer.
