So...went on a double date with my friend from work, his wife, and a woman friend of theirs. Nice restaurant, top floor of Marriott.

The ladies were a bit chilly so I offered to run downstairs to the garage for their wraps.

Got onto the elevator when a woman stepped on. Now mind you, she was very attractive with the lowest tightest dress I have had the pleasure of gawking at fill with two of the biggest...well you get the picture?

Anyways, I couldn't help but stare.

And then I heard her say "please press 1".

I did.

Now I don't remember much after that. Something being said about "what the..." and now I have woken up, handcuffed to a bed in the hospital.

A rather stern police officer there wanting to have a chat.

My coworker friends are not returning my calls. And I guess no chance of a second date.

We've already lost police officers due to this. Some have had enough and have retired if they can or quit.

Some are calling in sick with "blue flu".

When you pin a badge on, your a target. They take the aggressive stance because the "bad guys" who are willing to pull a weapon on them will. Ever see one that hasn't? Even seen a news article that says when approached by police who don't have guns drawn the suspect just laid down their weapon without hesitation? Of course not!

Each and every person they stop could be the last person they see. Everyone of them that leaves for work does so without knowing if they will come back. It's so easy to criticize. But doubt anyone here has walked in their shoes. I got family and friends that are/were police. Scary situation they find themselves into. Daily.

Are there police officers who go overboard? Yes. And they should be removed. I don't disagree with that. But this whole defund/disarm/disbanding thing is stupid. Period. Some cities have already done that. Baltimore just recently proposed "cutting" the budget to their police big time. Part of their way of "defunding". They cut the mounted and marine units. This is a city the prides itself on having a huge waterfront (Inner Harbor, Fells Point, etc. ). They cut overtime. They made cuts to the group that does the investigation of the police (internal affairs). 20 years ago I loved going into Baltimore and the Inner Harbor area. Felt perfectly safe. Go see the Orioles play, etc. evening games never a problem. 5 years ago I was last time I was there. It's gone downhill bigtime since then.

But hey, who needs police right? I'm sure if you ask the guy with the machete who is about ready to hack you or a loved one to death that if you ask politely they'll just lay the thing down and walk away...right?

ALL of those PEOPLE actively VIDEOING the whole thing. Yet only couple attempt to just "shout out" and do absolutely nothing. None of them even called for an ambulance. They just stood there and recorded it. Then posted it. The whole damn thing. No attempt to prevent. There is NEVER and attempt to prevent something it seems. They all just stand there and wait for something to happen so they can say they got their video on the 6 oclock news.

I'm being serious. Didn't anyone think to just try to intervene? Yes, they might get busted. But George Floyd would maybe be alive.

Couple years ago a group of people video a man drowning in a lake in a public park. Just stood there laughing and recording. People said "they should be prosecuted". Guess what? They weren't. Didn't break any "laws". None of them called the police. None of them called fire rescue. None of them called an ambulance. Just watched him drown and walked away after posting the video.

Folks, that's how much our society has "devolved".
