WAR is a combination of SoL and Mercs no? Are there net new players in there?

I've played twice since coming back. My observations:

- It's a slog. By the end of both rounds, I didn't want to play anymore. The FFA control panel (reptile!) is so sick and i wish we had it back in the day. I think its a combination of getting old and the player base talent increasing. Mindlessly blowing through turns to save time is a great way to have a bad finish or not be war prepped.

- I had no idea m0bzta's retirement would have such an adverse effect on the server!

- The political environment is sterile/weird. It's a PvP server where PvP is frowned upon. In my opinion, this is very against the spirit of a server called `Free For All`. With the creation of the Cooperation server, I don't understand the complaints of having to protect your country. I played with two different groups and both times there were rules of "don't do X". It's essentially a sandbox server where you can't even fight through the markets. These are soft rules that admins cant/shouldnt correct? Usually a player base will self correct but it looks like it's not happening this time around.

Sunday afternoon is when my beer league games are played. The problem with this change is I no longer have an excuse for my poor finishes.

I have not run into this issue for two days.

I also have this issue. I only play the Cooperation server.

edit: This is untrue. I have an Alpha Cooperation country that does show the bonus's when I login.

Kind of related, I think this issue is a good thing. With the advent of the Advanced Search Tool and Calc SS Def In Turrets - land grabbing got significantly easier. With the express server, a casual player can set aside a weekend and play completely from their phone. They'll always have turns and something to hit (hitting is fun!). Increased SS spam = increased player base? I only play express every once in while so I don't know if the actual gamer population has increased or not.

We have Coop now, I don't think increased PvP would necessarily be a bad thing. Those old e2025 express games were the thunder-dome and I found that madness fun.

I do agree we need something. 1A NPCs have def allies. Coop NPCs have the SS losses protection. Express could use something.

Another idea to curb SS spamming is to increase the c:c DR penalty. Those type of players repeatedly hit the untags that dont buy defense early on and typically stop hitting when returns get into the 100s - make them hit that returns number quicker?

New coach that wont run our goalies into the ground and play them like a true 1a/1b. I like our Free Agent pickups. Matty allegedly put on 10 lbs of muscle. For some reason we get the first game of the year, so i will be leaving work early for a 1pm game. I would be thrilled to get the 7th seed. I see the Kings regressing and us taking their spot. Not sure what other team will regress. I hope the powerplay isn't fluff this year - apparently the new assistant coach developed a good one in the AHL for Coachella.
