I realized I should have prefaced for some of you not to take this down an inappropriate path. A few of us were debating if we have played the game longer than some of the players have been alive or not. The debate turned on the point that some doubt there are any 14 year old (or younger) players.

I did kind of fear that after posting thus my editing to add in a preface. And it's still going downhill. You can close it if you want. The answer was close, but not quite.
I don't and I hope there aren't now. But there could be. I thought of allowing my 12 year old son to play. But after much debate in my head and after talking with a few others I decided no.
First off there is not a clan that I can really think of that is pg13? I could be wrong. But I would not allow him in imag, sof, or evo for sure, someone said SOL might be pg13 on their boards ect...but you think I would send my son to SOL? LOL Also irc, just horrid in warrooms...and sometimes if noone is really watching the earthempires room, to kick the freaks posting porn links.
I think the game changed over the years, with pg. I know lots of clans used to have pg stuff and pg rooms, but over the years as the players have gotten older, we all have slacked. Now it's the norm to be this way.
This brings up another topic of concern though, and you all know who you are. I find it ridiculous that the moment a 'certain admin' and I will not bring up his name, left #earthempires the other night, you all thought it was free will to act up. "oh so and so left, I can cuss now". What you all don't realize is that it's fine to cuss in there, just don't be stupid about it and don't degrade someone else. You know how this go. Use your brains. Maybe I should say there is kids playing this game with the way you act.
Bottom line is this. As a parent I would not allow my child to play this game. There is thought for many of you that would like to grow this game. Act right in the public irc....I mean there is a link on the main page, you never know who is clicking on that link to connect via mibbit.

I don't see the issue, anyone that thinks that a 14 year old isn't getting exposed to what is around here (and a whole lot worse) from multiple other sources is naive.
hw/ducko - so she should blatantly expose him to more of it just because it's already out there? Prevalence in society doesn't make any of that a good influence on a 14 yr old. I'm not saying EE is or is not appropriate for a 14 yr old, but I've yet to meet a 14 year old that can logically decipher and fully understand a lot of the type of stuff that's posted on these board, and can definitely see where the concern for a parent comes in. Every 14 yr old THINKS they get it - but most anyone over the age of 25 knows they were full of fluff when they thought that.
The internet, and especially open forums, have a tendency to bring out the worst in people - and with the line between the real world and virtual worlds dissolving faster and faster, I'd rather not see my kids learn a lot of the traits I see in folks online until they're mature enough to figure out where that boundary lies - and at 14 I don't think most kids get that quite yet.
I wouldn't let my kids use boxcar without the ability to turn off global forums. Hell, I think the Shaved Ninja Girls thread might even be a bad influence on ME!
Perhaps Pang&Co. can put a "minor" setting in boxcar user management to allow threads to be marked as not cool for kids/nsfw if leaders want the ability to be family friendly?

My first 2 children are daughters, the Internet is not exactly Dad's best friend, some of the things they find on YouTube are just wrong. If the oldest ever wanted to play I would think Monsters would be the safest place. I know Servant thinks about things like that.

Trumper - I know of at least 4 players under the age of 14, 3 of which play on at least 1 clan server.

I would call ICN PG except marshal sigs. Monsters would be safe, plus not only are the good people in RL, they mirror that with their online personalities. I think omega is mildly clean, but I hate they don't use boxcar....so I haven't totally looked around really.
But to answer your question I think age 14 and younger is quite rare. If I remember correctly in DBD on team server, someones son plays, but his dad who also plays wont let him get a boxcar account.
