even if they wanted to contact us how would they? unless they have found a way to contain anti matter to actually warp space to make the trip which is very doubtful in the first place, just because we are not alone in our universe doesn't mean we are not alone. We are alone in our little neighbourhood nothing gonna happen everything too far away.

lol our planet is nothing even compared to our solar system, that start is 1500 light years away (14,191,200,000,000,000 KM's) our sun is 150,000,000 KM's from earth, the oort cloud basically the physical edge of our solar system is 1,125,000,000,000 km's away and its taken voyager decades to get their, even though our sun is relatively young in the universe we had an edge with evolution thanks to our moon and its size and orbit, very unlikely such a pattern would repeat so close to us in the universe. I could just keep going on but I have turns to play -_-

I would like to quote someone I consider a friend:

"On one hand, I am expecting some boring naturalistic explanation for that in a few months.

On the other hand, it would be really exciting if this is really the first astronomical mega-construction ever observed. "

doesnt change what i said. trust me, i understand the physics of space travel and distances along with known statistics. known being the operative word.

it is incredibly ignorant to think you know how the universe works, and not very scientific. question everything, you know next to nothing on a universal scale. a bird cant comprehend calculus just like humans cant comprehend their place in the universe. yet, hopefully.

edit: i dont understand why you keep using kms when speaking on an astronomical scale below light years. use AU like any other scientist. unless your wiki research didnt teach you about AUs

yeah I could use AU but how many people here are gonna understand easier to put a number on it, and I don't know how the universe works no one does, but we have come along way in understanding pretty damn well that if we had the power to do so we could make our own.

and to your edit don't use wiki that often for anything probably more rare actually to use it all. those numbers I threw up I used my windows xp calculator using the keyboard shortcut and multiplied from what I already knew

T'was once a planet occupied by folks just like us. Then the libtards took over. They wanted everything given to them. They wanted free love, free medical, began aborting the population before it could grow. Most of all they wanted piece spread throughout the world. Then, the radicals took over and destroyed the whole planet. Then again, I could be wrong.

The star is orbiting two black holes, one of which is also orbited by a pulsar. That pulsar is orbited by Donald Trump's home planet, which is surrounded by his ego cloud.

I refuse to believe that there are alien civilizations just waiting to find us and visit us and have anything to do with us. Let's face some reality here, folks.

Perhaps the Universe is NOT expanding, perhaps we are shrinking, same outwardly observable effects, right?

Eventually, if that is in fact the case, we will shrink into nothing and just wink out. :)

So, since we are shrinking and everything apparently gets further and further away, it will ALWAYS be too far for us to get there, and whatever, if anything is there to get here.

Maybe you should wiki run on sentences then. Lol. That fluff was hard to read.

Either way, assuming something is insurmountable simply because the technology and physics arnt understood yet is a pretty crappy mentality. Progress was never made with a mindset like that. Traveling across oceans was once insurmountable. It was an analogy, not a direct comparison. That was my point.

You sound more like the flat earth mentality than the exploration mentality.

The universe has been observed to be expanding. Things are getting farther apart, which means it's expanding, not contracting (when things would be getting closer together).

It's taken trillion of years to get where we are and the universe will be around for trillions more. There are more stars in the universe than specks of sand on a beach. We've already observed dozens of earth-like planets, some in the habitable zone.

I mean...you have to really be a raving lunatic to think we're the only lifeforms in the entire universe.

yeah ok ford lets fast forward a few thousand years when we can succesfully put organic material into a warp bubble then talk about possibilites we could easily send a probe in few decades that far but not anything that could easily break down

and tan *put trife some reason in first post* trillions of years? what universe are you from? according to the background radiation just over 14billion. and a round up would to the nearest million and no I will not STFU

and ford with dark matter and other high energy matter decaying into dark energy the universe will expand faster and faster it won't contract at any point by the time dark energy has no effect gravity (just electromagnetism) would have nothing to act on.

also, your reading skills are making me doubt your knowledge. as is your disregarding of theories with no hard evidence just to substitute them with other theories.

the amount of energy required to put a low mass object very small in size just a few metres by few metres and most the mass being a generator of some kind to create even a slight warp bubble is more then our sun puts out every second at its core. the realism around warp drive is beyond our scope of capabilities at the moment. We have made unstable ones on a nano scale with an effect no greater then what a snail could do in a few seconds.

That's not even true anymore - you're talking about the unfeasibility of the Alcubierre drive. One of the biggest criticisms is that it would take a ridiculous - an impossible - amount of energy to make it work, but that assessment has already been revised.

I mean, it would still take a ridiculously large amount that isn't realistic, but every year that changes.
