A bit off topic but after reading a part of dragons post couldnt help it.

We all see the anti smoking commercials on tv yet they still show ones about drinking.

Sure second hand smoke might not be good for people around you, but drinking is way worse even for people you dont know. To many people aint smart enough to call a taxi or ask a friend who has not been drinking to drive.

Just think about this. How many times do you read in the paper or on the internet about whole families being killed in the blink of an eye from somebody lighting up and smoking a pack. And now think about the same thing only with people having a drinks to many and then driving home from the bar/pub.

Sorry went a bit off topic there

Indians were running it.
No taxes,
no debt,
women did all the work.
White man thought he could improve on a system like this. - Cherokee proverb

How many time does a smoker light a cigarette on time and kill 6 people? Maybe never.

How many times does a drunk driver kill ore than 3 people? Lots.

You're only arguing to argue.

i'm not sure, but i think NJ did pass a law about smoking in the car, or it was part of their distracted driving package. heard something about it on the radio.

how many people have been killed because a smoker is trying to put out a cherry that fell off and it's burning a hole in the carpet, if not their leg?

fluff like this makes me believe hs has to be trolling..nobody is this fluffing stupid...I've only ever seen a small handful of people that were for drunk driving, and they were so dumb it wasn't worth talking to them... he obviously falls into 1 or these 2, so its probably not worth the typing to argue..

Dibs has always been a troll. Just not to this level. He can't be or doesn't have the balls to be a POS in real life so he does it here.

I mean think about it. If he said this fluff in a bar, he'd be eating teeth and when the natural teeth were gone, he'd be eating broken dentures.

He just does this to stir fluff. Or perhaps he's REALLY an evolutionary dead end begging to be denied the ability to breed.

WHo knows.

Actually what you SHOULD do is participate in Reality at the front end of the ugly truth.

But you don't have the balls to do that. Not everyone does.

LOL. you don't have a clue about reality. you are so mired in misery and suffering that you don't have a clue that the majority of people don't ever see that side of life. heck, if they cleaned up the dead animals off the road as fast as they clean the dead humans off the road, i wouldn't have to see it at all.

Devils advocate.

Roughly 10,000 Americans die every year because of alcohol related drunk driving accidents.

Roughly 600,000 thousand Americans die every year from heart disease. Maybe those police should pull over a McDonald's.

EDIT: Not trying to take a side if there is such a thing to be had in this thread. To be sure, the death of a child is tragic.

But perspective is important. Obviously this subject is touchy with some because of personal experience. Thus is life.

As humans, with our relatively short life span death is something that happens to us all and for the majority well before we are ready.

As for children, probably the saddest of all cases.

2.6 million children will die because of hunger. More than 11 million children die this year from preventable health issues such as malaria, diarrhea and pneumonia.

22,000 children will die today because of poverty related issues.

Cherish what we have, take nothing for granted and donate if you can.

Finally, to be sure, do not drive drunk.

Dibs: It's amusing that you use the argument that to follow one's emotions is animalistic and therefore inhuman. I would argue just the opposite, that to ignore all emotions and rely only on logic in all situations is inhuman. Besides, statistics are irrelevant to individual instances. There's no comfort in a statistic about 0.02% fatality rate to a family that just lost someone due to a drunk driver.

Furthermore, you're clearly just trolling. It's one thing to troll people who are just immature idiots arguing about petty things that don't really affect people, but many of us do know someone who has either been badly hurt or killed either by their own drunk driving or by someone else's. Trolling people on such an issue that is bound to be very emotional is a pretty awful thing to do.

Dibs, thank you for taking the heat rounds on this one.

Any person who reads this thread from start to finish will see that when the personal insults came out the whole tone changed.

There are a few questions though???????

1 Q: Dibs do you drink and drive?

2 Q: Dibs do you think drinking and driving is acceptable behavior?

3 Q: Dibs would you have been so coarse toward Dragon if he had not been such an obnoxious fluff when responding to your post?

These are the three questions I would most like to see a response to.
Damn missed it

1. ahh, but i don't drive now, though i do have a valid driver's license.
2. depends on how much is drunk. though, i'm thinking that driving in and of itself might not be acceptable behavior.
3. dunno, but i did go out and buy booze simply to troll after that.

Khavic25, i did ride my unicycle 1.2 miles after drinking 200ml of brandy over 3 hours today, if you need more clarity regarding the answer to the #1 question.

yah, yah. it is not possible for people to be able to drink and drive. MADD will be along shortly to confirm it, or i'm imagining things.

i either have an extreme ability to do things under the influence or MADD is lying. considering that i am a bit clumsy most of the time...

http://www.nhtsa.gov/Impaired

Alcohol-impaired motor vehicle crashes cost more than an estimated $37 billion annually.

In 2010, more than 10,000 people died in alcohol-impaired driving crashes - one every 51 minutes.

hmmm, so that means we spend $3,700,000 for each failed attempt at avoiding a Drunk Driving fatality. let's see my annual consumption of alcohol per year is around $3,000 USD, so for every failed attempt at keeping a drunk off the road, they could safely keep me off the road for around 1,234 years. provided that the delivery surcharge doesn't get too excessive...

How does that logic even make sense?

First off, it doesn't say they spend $37 billion to try to make people not drive drunk. It says accidents caused by drunk drivers cost $37 billion. Furthermore, there are clearly more than 10,000 alcohol-related crashes a year. They don't all result in deaths.

Whatever connection you're trying to say exists between the 10,000 deaths and the $37 billion isn't there, Dibs.

i'm kinda aware of that, but i don't understand how they came up with the 37b number. that's alot of mailboxes getting run over. so the closest i can get is that 10,000 people died, though they're only worth around 1.4m each according to the EPA. so how do they figure that drunk drivers cost 37b per year?

so, we have around 14b for the loss of the zombie fat cows who got stuck in the bright lights, and who probably didn't have a chance of making 1.4 million dollars during their lives, but we still have a 23b extra cost. ain't that many mailboxes in the world to run over.

property damage, hospital stays for the injured, court costs, fatalities, jail time?

I'm not sure how many of these things would be considered part of it, but it could be any/all of it.
