22-pound cat attacks owners
by: Will Phoenix

A 22–pound cat named Lux attacked an infant and trapped its owners and their dog in a bedroom in Portland, Oregon before being subdued by Portland police officers reported authorities on Monday. The actual incident occurred prior to 8:00 p.m. Sunday night when the black-and-white heinous Himalayan house cat attacked and scratched a 7-month-old infant on the forehead reported Sergeant Pete Simpson, spokesperson for the Portland Police Bureau.

While there has been no word on the motives behind the feline’s felonious attack on the infant, it is believed that the baby’s father kicking the cat’s “keister” following the scratching incited the feline’s fierce rage and forced the family and their dog to retreat into another room as the father dialed 911. Simpson said the cat ran after the owners–The Barker family–and trapped them by blocking the doorway. He also stated the angry, screeching cat can be heard on the recorded 911 call.

The 22-pound cat reportedly “went over the edge” and would charge the door whenever the family opened the door to try and escape. The father told the 911 operator: “He’s trying to attack us. He’s very, very, very, very hostile.”

In fact, Simpson noted: “(the father) said that the cat has a history of violence.”

I don't get how the cat survived attacking the infant. That's justification for feline murder in my book. It's a fluffing cat, it has nothing with which to actually defend itself from a suitably enraged and engaged human.

What kinda dog did these people have? A miniature poodle for Chrissakes? Even a rat terrier can kill a cat no matter how big that cat might be.

People should take a lesson from this and make sure that they do not adopt cats as they are evil animals that should all be lined up on the highway at rush hour, or tied together by the tails and thrown over the pantograph wires on an electric railroad line to await their fate at the hands ot the next high speed locomotive to come down the tracks.

At the very least, they should be roughly handled, then have a dried out corncob brushed vigorously against their asses followed by a shot of turpentine.

First of all this is freaking hilarious (saw it on local news too).

The "father" must have a mangina. I never had a cat, but it would have been way bellow my dignity to call 911 to announce a cat attack. Altought i`ve been beaten by numerous animals when being a kid and spending my holidays int the countryside ( a turkey kicked the fluff out of me, a rooster grabbed my penis while i was peeing, and a flock of gooses chased my ass until i climbed a tree) my current manhood would not currently accept calling 911 on a scale from mice - cow.

Now about the dog. That is the first pet that must leave the house. It is bellows dog dignity to be chase away by a cat. A dog should protect it`s master against any upcoming danger, outdoor or homeland.

When I was little, my cat used to chase away the neighbors dog just by puffing up. Little yip-yip dog would run for the hills. That cat was an outdoor cat and a hunter for most of its youth. It brought us dead animals on a regular basis. As it got older, slower, weaker, the birds started taking revenge. They would dive bomb the hell out of him and we'd find him nursing numerous wounds with fur missing. He was eventually converted to an indoor cat to live out his last years and eventually dies at the ripe old age of 19 I think from brain chemical imbalances.

Virtually every other cat we owned growing up and the cats I own today are entirely indoor cats and de-clawed. And yes, if you agitate a cat, it will hiss/bite. For a child growing up, that is part of learning what not to do to a cat. For a parent, you are an idiot if you leave a "baby" unsupervised in such a scenario with a cat or a dog (or a turkey, rooster or flock of geese).

Unfortunately, he probably cant touch the cat at all. He would have animal control or peta on him. According to animal planet shows, animals have rights too! :P

as mentioned: you shouldn't leave an infant alone with any kind of live animal. And yeah I agree. I've dealt with a heavier cat than that before.. mind you it was a lot friendlier and decided to use my feet as a bed.

for an adult human, you should have no issue dealing with a 22 lb cat. I very much doubt a cat that fat could jump on you very effectively. Just get a broom/stick and whack it in the ass (or get lots of water and splash the cat).

I would be more afraid of a goose than a cat (the goose can potentially break your arm if you pissed it off enough or threatened its babies).

Himalayan's are a docile breed too. I imagine this was far from the first incident to set one of those lazy things off.

How hard is it to subdue a cat? FFS... throw a blanket over it and beat it with a chair till it stops hissing.

Attack my child or me... it dies.

this reminds me of those flufftards a few years back in the toyotas that would unintentionally accelerate and they would panic and kill their whole family because they were too stupid to put the car in neutral and turn it off. dont know why it reminds me of that, probably the level of stupidity and lack of composure under stress.

Seen that happen a few times.

Don't you know those gas stations can fix anything on the car? LOL

I saw old lady driving on the wrong side of the freeway once, I was the only one Laughing, she was definately senile, she even made a stop at the light which was an onramp to enter the freeway. She didn't know what direction was the right way, even funnier is how far she had made it without getting pulled over, I only know cuz Sun City is where the old timers live and it was a good 5 miles at least.
Do as I say, not as I do.
