I tried to join GDI, but when I click it, nothing happens. It just refreshes the page and nothing changes. Is this a bug?

I was able to get it easily enough

Ya if u have no attacks then join gdi first then use your bonus points and boom free gdi. Hope this helps

As mentioned

If you attack.. you are done cooked, finished and cannot join GDI, therefore no free GDI

VERY VERY important to get GDI first before you land grab. Prime strategy is to wait till you are about to land grab, then get GDI and click for free GDI.

If you play a strat that keeps low NW at the start and is likely to get hit, then GDI after 200 turns is the right time to get it

I was confused back 2 sets as well.. it pays to read the info regarding GDI and the free GDI bonus
