What do you guys think is the most effective # of construction sites to build in an express set? do you build them all right off the bat?

Too little and you will peak too early. Too many and it feels like trying to pull out in 3rd gear, slow growth low funds. I like to try and find a happy medium and build up theough the set. Usually get it up a little early though 15-20 bpt. I kinda suck though.

i like to build them all fast. definitely a lot more than 20 bpt.. last set i had 70 bpt.. what does everyone else think. is 260 construction sites too many for an express set?

Depending on your land goal.

10k = >50 BPT
12.5k = >60 BPT
15k = >70 BPT
20k = >90 BPT
25k = >100 BPT

and freedy sorry i meant 20bpt is what i try to hit coming out of protection generally speaking. I try and keep building them any chance i get when i have a turn or two to spare throughout but I find if i go too high its hard to keep my defenses up and any extra buildings i construct will just end up negated via landgrabs anyways. I rather keep my land and military and maybe take off a little slower. A lot just depends on where im sitting on the scores atm.

Then drop turns getting production up between 500-3900 acres. Bump BPT up too 60 between 3900-7000 then climb again 7000-15000 up to 70 BPT. This keeps you "shifting" gears as the other guy says and lets you keep military and tech up.

I only have 55 bpt in most sets.

I do 50 as commie 60 at techer. All the day I come out of protection. Seems to get me top 10 finishes consistantly.

I mathed out the difference for Hammer one set, 50 BPT costs you extra turns worth of stock. I can't recall the exact amouny of land it takes to make it profitable but I know if your under 15k but over 10k 60 BPT is ideal.

i run either 75 or 80 bpt as an all explore rep casher- ideally settling at or around 15k acres.

I like 66 bpt, its quick to build 33 & 33 and its seems to consistently work out in the top ten with a rep casher. Build CS and buy res & bus tech one turn at a time, saving enough cash to build 1 CS each turn. Build some bus and res occasionally as you grow. My rule of thumb is to have enough at least enough income in one turn to build one set of res and bus buildings. And what Cable said:

Thanks guys, all very interesting.. I guess everyone does it slightly different. I'm just trying to figure out how to get from top 20 finishes to top 10 and eventually hopefully top 5..3..1

agreed stay 20-25 bpt and just build the rest in oil rigs and military bases. G/L :P

I do 50 bpt as a farmer. I've tried 60bpt but I just can't fit in the time to get the extra 40 cs in at the right time :S.

i just follow the formula.

i am trying it your way, tda, gonna stick to sixty i think, see how that fairs for me (maybe the extra turns will get me over that twenty five million mark? not likely :P)

When I attack in here commie 60bpt seems plenty but I have not tried more. When I explore I have noticed no difference between 40-50bpt with my 12-13k land goal.
