Meek has been free for over a year but it's still a major weekend here for criminal justice reform protests.

Criminal justice reform is moot unless you take down the cabal AKA deep state first, the government is corrupt to a point where the DOJ has been weaponized.

And to be clear, both parties use it.

Well. Even in it's most basic form (not deep state conspiracy), the criminal justice is broken here by virtue of being privatized. As long as prisoncorp is in charge of incarceration and not the government you're going to have a problem. Prisons incentivize harsh penalties by way of corporate kickbacks and the like. And the more you have in prison the more money the govt will give you. There's a ton of reasons for prison corporations to want mass incarcerations and they definitely have the cash to throw around to make it happen.

There really shouldn't be a need for a private prison system.
